Where to begin?

I remembered that last night we measured from his butt to his shoulder so I can find out if the car seat we were planning on getting can be adjusted small enough for him. I'll have to take a run out to a Babys 'R' Us some time this week.

Michael received a few more feedings by bottle today. Gretchen and I both had a chance to try our hand at feeding him. He is still a few weeks early to be having much success with the whole "sucking, swallowing, breathing" thing, but he seems to be getting a hang of it. He has eaten about 5ml, by bottle each time, out of a ~30ml feeding. Pretty good if you ask me.

They also removed his IV fluids this morning and will be removing the IV line later this evening. So now the only support system he is on is his feeding tube. It will still be a while before that can be remove as he needs to keep practicing his mouth feeding.

All in all, Michael is doing very well. He is back up to his birth weight of 2170 grams, and it gaining a bit more each day. 2270 grams is about the 5lb lower end of most car seats, so that is the magic number we are looking for.

He has had the start of his vaccines, and passwed his hearing test yesterday as well. So much is happening in these first days it is hard to keep up with it all.

We will probably be going back after dinner, so we might have more updates tonight.
