2007-02 - Phoenix

We invaded Dave's life for ten days to visit. We kind of invited ourselves out to see Gretchen's brother, Dave, in Phoenix and stuck around for ten whole days. And it wasn't just us either. Gretchen's mom and step dad, Fred came along for the second half. Along with Michael's great-grandparents from California, GG and GP. I'm sure Dave was so glad to be at work some days.

Actually, it was nice to get everyone together for some good visiting. We were out there with Michael for five days before anyone else dropped in, so we were able to spend some good quality time with Michael's Arizona uncle.

While out there Michael was able to go to the zoo for the very first time. We also got a wonderful, behind the scenes tour of the University of Phoenix Stadium. Dave works there during football season, running the Jumbotrons. He got to show us some of the things he has put together. Definitely not very often when you can roam around an empty stadium. And then have someone just start putting things up on the Jumbotron for you. Pretty amazing.

We also helped Dave put together his Murphy bed in his office / spare room. So the next time we invade (or anyone else for that matter) he won't need to give up his bed. Which he was kind enough to do for us. And, while we don't have any pictures of it, Michael got to sleep in Dave's walk-in closet using the little tent that was pictured a few albums ago.

All in all, it was a very fun trip. Which we are looking forward to doing again sometime. Though maybe we'll wait for an official invitation this time. And depending on how big Michael has gotten, maybe we'll even rent a room somewhere. Not sure how long he'll fit in a closet.
